PHOTOS: Native Manor Heavy Hitters at 6th & Peabody

Have you ever been to a writers round where everyone, across the board, was really, really good? We have!

OK, that statement can apply quite a few times over throughout UMC history. However, the most recent example took place this past Wednesday at 6th & Peabody in Nashville, where Native Manor hosted the February edition of their Heavy Hitters round.

We caught (and captured) most of the night. Of course, there was no shortage of country, but this eclectic lineup featured a couple different shades of pop, and even some Latin and worship music.

Below, you’ll find a lineup breakdown, in case you’re looking for some new artists to check out. All of the artists are also tagged in this Instagram post.

6:30 p.m.: Keifer Wiley, Clayton Shay, The Dryes
7:30 p.m.: Noah West, April Kry, Ben Fuller, Noah Sotillo
8:30 p.m.: Sarah Darling, Jimencio, Trevor Martin, Kayley Bishop
9:30 p.m.: Mark Addison Chandler, Rebecca Brunner, AJ Gatio

One of our goals for 2024? Get out on the town — that is, whichever town we happen to occupy at that time — at least once per week!

And so, we kicked off this noble pursuit by heading to Live Oak Nashville this past Wednesday, where our friends at Native Manor hosted their monthly Heavy Hitters songwriter round.

The evening consisted of four rounds of Nashville-based songwriters, encompassing genres like country, pop, soul, and more. This month’s lineup was as follows:

7 p.m.: Dan Harrison, Melissa Erin, Ryan Danvers, John Strandell
8 p.m.: Brian Fuller, Shantaia, Chris Sligh, Hannah Geiser
9 p.m.: Keith Eric, Kenny Dewitt, Tyra Madison
10 p.m.: Max Boyle, Jess Antonette, Bonner Black

We snapped a handful of photos, which you’ll find below. We’ll also be continually rolling out videos from the night on our YouTube channel (click those links above to watch the first couple).

Lastly, we’re excited to join Native Manor for the next Heavy Hitters night on February 7. The location changes every month, so stay tuned to their Native Manor Artist Instagram for updates!

NashLive! Takeover: A Special Writers Round at The Listening Room

NashLive! will be taking over Nashville’s iconic The Listening Room Cafe on Monday, October 3 with a special writers round event — featuring songwriters from here in Nashville… and beyond!

TICKETS

Billy Bauer is a Bethlehem, PA-based songwriter and the frontman of Billy Bauer Band, an acoustic rock quartet who has opened for the likes of Tim Reynolds, Phillip Phillips, Third Eye Blind, and many more, and whose popular Dave Matthews Band tribute show sells out venues across eastern Pennsylvania. Billy will bring his Martin Guitar all the way to Nashville to perform selections from the band’s catalog, which dates all the way back to 2006’s full-length debut, Another Day is Coming.

Erin McLendon is a country artist, entrepreneur, and co-founder of Music on the Move Studios, a community organization which provides educational and performance opportunities to Nashville’s robust community of female musicians and entrepreneurs. Erin is gearing up to release a new album later this summer, with the first two singles — “Millie” and “Sunday Crowd” — available for streaming everywhere!

Speaking of powerhouse female musicians-slash-entrepreneurs, J.Antonette certainly fits the description. Not only is the New York native a force to be reckoned with on the pop country circuit — her latest single, “Heartbroken in a Honky Tonk,” is out now — but she is the founder of Native Manor, a boutique entertainment company based in Nashville and New York City, and Bundle Up Nash, a charitable organization known for its holiday clothing and toy drives.

Growing up in a self-described “wacky, doomsday Bible cult,” Wesley David sought refuge through music. His passion has served him well — for many years, Wes has toured the country performing his whimsical, tongue-in-cheek blend of pop and rock for live audiences of all shapes and sizes. This October, he’ll join us as he hits the road in advance of his 6-song EP, Satori, due out later this year.

Underground Writers Round Livestream for Tornado Relief on Friday, March 27

A couple weeks ago, we had to make the decision to postpone our March Underground Writers Round with AGD Entertainment, citing what were, at the time, growing concerns about the potential spread of COVID-19.

We all know the story from there. However, even though we can’t gather in person, music and community will always find a way!

March 20 Underground Writers Round to Benefit Disaster Relief Efforts

In the wake of the tornadoes that devastated Middle Tennessee in the early morning hours of March 3, all of us — UMC, AGD Entertainment, and the performers — have decided to donate all door proceeds from our upcoming Underground Writers Round at Douglas Corner Cafe to disaster relief efforts in the area.

All funds collected at the door on Friday, March 20 will be donated directly to Hands On Nashville, a local non-profit and one of the many organizations spearheading recovery and cleanup efforts following the storms that damaged much of our region. Hands On Nashville is working hard to coordinate volunteer projects throughout the city, and we wish to provide resources to help them continue this critical work.

We encourage you to learn more about the work of Hands On Nashville and get involved at their website. And, we look forward to seeing you at Douglas Corner on Friday, March 20 at 9 p.m. for a $5 suggested donation.
